Hey everyone, sorry if this has been mentioned before. I did some searching but I didn't come across anything specific. I wanna get my hands on a relatively inexpensive filter system. (Meaning, not having to sell my legs.)

There's a lot of coast line here where I live so I wanna do some long exposure beach photos as well as some landscape when I travel around. I'll be doing most of this with my 17-40L.

Also, I love the look of medium format so I want to try and replicate its look by using some density filters on my primes and shoot wide open with some strobes. Would I need an adapter and filter mount or is there a worthy 58mm screw on filter out there?

I suppose I'll need a system for my 17-40L and another one for my 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 which are the same diameter. I've read that certain filters give off a color tint. As long as it's not really major, I don't mind. I just want a foundation to learn from and upgrade later down the line.

Thanks! I found some Lee .pdfs that I'll be checking out too, maybe I'll learn something...

Give the folks a call at www.2filter.com (external link) and ask about the HiTech filters. You can buy them for about $35/pop and should be able to get the different rings to be able to use them on all of your lenses. If you want to spend a LOT more money, go to Singh Ray and see what they have.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out! I know it's best to invest in higher end filters but I'm sure there are worthy ones out there for fractions less.

You're welcome. They have outstanding customer service and really know their stuff. Singh Ray makes lots of specialty filters like the reverse grad ND, Vari-N-Duo, and they are amazing.
