I think the size of my box is too big for the lights i'm using because the lighting isn't even in the box. Did this with two lights on the side and the shoe mount flash into the top of the box.

Excellent photo, but why have a shotgun shell pictured with a handgun?

Perhaps that was the idea you were trying to convey?

This is a way to "prop" the handgun up, and still have the "gun" feel to it. It's used in gun shops and the like.

I like the photo (and the gun).

It's either a shotgun shell or a sharpie :D

personally I like my 00 shells because the red looks good compared to the black gun.

Or a bit of modeling clay under the pistol where you can't see it.

Nice lighting on that shot.

Violater is correct on the shotgun shell usage. Next time i will try propping it with something behind it so it's not visable in the photo.

I wasn't poking fun at the picture at all. I think the picture is excellent. I was just curious as to why you use the shell. Now I know.

Excellent picture though...very good.

Another option is to simply stand the pistol up, and vary the angle of the camera to get your desired effect.

I see a lot of shots of pistols done that way. Granted they're usually not posted up on a photography board for critique. I acquired an old 50cal shell form my great grandfather that I use on occasion.

BTW Nice lighting. It looks like the box is doing it's job well.

I like the 50cal idea. Make the gun look like a compact .22

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
