Has anyone here used both the Sigma 80-400 OS and the 120-400 OS? I am curious about comparisons between the two in terms of build and image quality.

Someone posted a review of the 120-400 I believe. If you search the forum, it should turn up.

I have used the Sigma 80-400 before on a Nikon mount. Wonderfull lens, very sharp. Here is a track day I shot with it. http://www.flickr.com …s/sets/72157620874770998/ (external link)

Thanks needforspeed. Thats good feedback. It looks like the used 80-400 are sellling for a couple hundred less then the 120-400. Might have to pick one up.

No Problem. I'm looking for one myself as my 70-200 f/4L doesn't give me the range I need. My other option is the Sigma 100-300 f/4. But as long as your willing to deal with the weight, it should serve you well.

I tried the 120-400 this weekend and I wasn't impress with the OS. The benefits is less then 1 stop. On a tripod, this lens is pretty sharp. It's not the same IQ of an L lenses but it's significantly cheaper.

I've never tried the 120-400 and based on what I've read I won't. Here's the link to the test I did with my 80-400 OS & 50-500, plus the Canon 300 f4 L & 100-400 L.

Mine is for sale but I think the Canadian value exceeds what it's worth in the US.
