How long to transform - home studio

From your living room/garage or whatever into your home studio? Everytime I go through the process I'm beginning to hate it more and more.

First I have to move a couch into another room, move the rug, move a large chair and then set up background stand with paper (heaven forbid steaming a muslin and hanging it up), assemble softbox, get 3 to 4 lightstands set up with lights/umbrellas/beaut​y dish. Get the boom arm set up with hair light. Get power cords plugged in. Bring in props like old chairs, benches, other fabrics for backgrounds in from garage.

Do the shoot.

Take it all down and put it all back in place.

I have mine set up in my parent's big basement, haven't used it yet.

About 20 minutes for me - I have a largish, open plan area I use for the shoot, so I can shift the furniture to the side of it, rather than pulling it out.

Thats two Genesis 200's on stands, one 580exII on a stand, backdrop stands and whatever cloth backdrop I'm using, one softbox, umbrella's or barndoor/grids - then all the various gels, triggers, cables etc.

I'd much prefer a permanent space, and sometimes I'll leave this setup for days before the wife starts getting twitchy, but it's what I have to play with today.
