UWA hood question

The EW83E hood is listed as fitting both the EF 16-35 f2.8 II lens and the EF-S 10-22 lens . . . but the EW-88 hood that comes with the 16-35 only fits that lens . . .

How can that be?

Diameter.

The EW-83E fits the original Canon 16-35, not the II version. There's a significant body diameter difference. The original 16-35 has a 77mm filter thread, and the II version has an 82mm filter thread.

OK, that makes sense . . . I've only see the II version of the 16-35 so I couldn't see how the 83E could fit both that lens and the 10-22.

Yep - MK1 has 77 and MK2 has 82mm filter size
