Hmmm, pretty sure they're identical to normal alkaline.. at least visually.

I ordered a 4 pack to try out. They seem to be the same size as our Energizer and Rayovac batteries

When I get home, I can measure some AA Eneloops with calipers vs some plain-Jane Energizer AAs (and Duracells if I have any).

FYI - I just measured my Eneloop AAs against a Duracell AA with my calipers and they're exactly the same dimensions.

I love them. I bought a set in Costco and have been using them ever since in my flash units. I really appreciate rechargeable when packing for my China trip. I don't have to take a mess of extra batteries, just a set of Eneloop AA cells for my flash units.
The charger is dual voltage so I don't have to worry about the 240V current in China and Hong Kong - I just carry an adapter for the Chinese wall plugs and I will buy a plug adapter for Hong Kong. I believe that they use the British style plugs.

Haven't had a problem fitting them into anything I use AA cells in, which includes several GPS units, several flashes, a stereo MP3 recorder, a couple of cameras, . . . .
