Some early spring birds from Hokkaido

Well spring is just around the corner in southern Hokkaido and the Black Necked Grebes are changing into their summer best........and they're leaving the open sea and coming to feed in the local fishing harbours.......

It's been a poor winter for finches in south Hokkaido, no Crossbills or Asian Rosy Finches. Lots of Hawfinches though......

Lots of Dusky Thrush passing through at this time of year too.........

As much as I like the grebes, it's the little fellows that draw my attention. They're just lovely, with the second to last being my favourite.
