It kinda' bothers me that the 100% crops are not quite as sharp as some of the cameras with lesser pixel density... but, in the long run, the pictures are sharp when reduced (even a little) and print very well.

I wonder if canon has hit the limit of usable pixel density. Though what confuses me is that the point and shoots (with much smaller sensors) have much higher densities and seem to get pretty good results.

Perfect since day one, about 2 months on it so far. All errors are OE's

Love it! No regrets.

First and last choice for me. I'd like to know the total sales world wide.
In three months I have almost 20,000 clicks.

I don't think it's the pixel density because as you point out the point and shoots have much higher densities and do just fine at lower ISOs, but it's the amount of data being moved. Look at the Canon PowerShot SD3500 IS. 14.1mpix on a sensor 6.16 by 4.62mm2. That's almost 500,000 per square mm. If the 7D had the same pixel density it would be a 164,500,000 mpix sensor. Imagine the raw file size on a camera like that. :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Great thread/poll. I hope everybody answers honestly... which means I really should have checked "I like pizza" instead of I've had no problems with my 7D :D:D

There have been a couple of post with potential buyers afraid to purchase a 7D because of the of problems being discussed here at POTN. In many of those posts the responses generally point to user error as a cause or a misunderstanding of the camera and it's functioning.

I thought I would poll the POTN community and see if we can get a better picture of what is really happening. I understand it is completely unscientific and totally relies on the honesty and integrity of the POTN community and some may have to supply an answer that points the finger inward, but it's the best an open forum can do i suppose..

So, be as honest as your conscience allows and choose a category that best describes your 7D experience.

Even though I chose the 'images were too soft' option (in comparison to my 40D photos),I'm fortunate enough to be good friends with a few people who have made a living from photography for many years ant whom many consider to be very competent photographers.

Now after comparing my images with their initial images I can safely say my still 'inconsistent' rate of sharp pictures is most definitely user error on my part.

Learning. Slowly,but surely...

Well, Pizza is great, but a steady diet of the 7D is not going to make you fat.

The camera is a gem, even the first hap-hazard shots out of the box showed me the 'WOW' factor. Choices on this poll leave out my "Great camera out of the box," but forget to add "Needed adjustment time to get up to speed with ALL of the features." Not a bad thing, but for some, this camera will take some getting used to which is really taking the steps to bring me up to speed with its capability for higher quality than I've ever been able to produce before.

7D = Five Stars!

I'm pretty sure this thread is a bad copy, you should send it in for repair, i mean, i like pizza, but my camera TAKES EXCELLENT PICTURES straight out of the box, but it wont let me select both options. i say, return it.

I think some of the problems like focusing and soft images have to do with people who slap on ****ty lenses on a body with pixel dense sensor. I mean why do people buy a 2000 dollar camera and then use ****ty lenses with it :S

Because I still have my 75-300 that I bought with my 300D ;)
When I use that lens, I do not expect good results and blame the lens when they are soft. I am saving for a 70-200 f/2.8 II.
