From the article:
"The latest and current record holder is a 26-gigapixel image taken from the rooftop of the Hause der Presse in Dresden, Germany created in December 2009 by the A. F. B. media Gmbh in cooperation with the German newspaper Sächsische Zeitung. The huge image was stitched from 1665 full format 21.4-megapixel pictures, recorded in 172 minutes by a photo robot using a Canon 5D Mark II with a 400 mm lens. A computer running on 16 processors and a main memory cache of 48 gb took all of 96 hours to process the 102 gb raw data of photos. The result is a staggering 297,500 x 87,500 pixel (26 gigapixel) image that would create a 105 x 35-meter picture when printed!"
