From the article:

"The latest and current record holder is a 26-gigapixel image taken from the rooftop of the Hause der Presse in Dresden, Germany created in December 2009 by the A. F. B. media Gmbh in cooperation with the German newspaper Sächsische Zeitung. The huge image was stitched from 1665 full format 21.4-megapixel pictures, recorded in 172 minutes by a photo robot using a Canon 5D Mark II with a 400 mm lens. A computer running on 16 processors and a main memory cache of 48 gb took all of 96 hours to process the 102 gb raw data of photos. The result is a staggering 297,500 x 87,500 pixel (26 gigapixel) image that would create a 105 x 35-meter picture when printed!"

That's crazy, I don't even want to think how long it would take my computer to process that image! It took long enough for it to process a 130 MP image.

Apparently I've been dubbed Foxy.

It honestly looks rather soft IMHO when zoomed in to the extent they allow.

Wow, that site you linked to is really behind the times. This was reported back in December of last year...

That is printed at about 72 dpi I want to look at it from 2 inches away with a loupe so up it to 300 dpi at least. Anyhow those two dimensions have different aspect ratios so that writer can't even do arithmetic so how can we trust his printing abilities. :)

Interesting find. I didn't even do the math. Probably because any time I see something in metric, I usually say "I'm outa' here!" :)

On the other hand, I never thought about it before but isn't his measurement mixing apples and oranges? I.e., dpi being English and meters being metric? The mind boggles, the brain smokes and that's why I usually run away from it! ;)
