Just got my Gitzo GT2531. According to the specs. the min. height is 17.0 cm or 6.7 in. I don't think I can go that low. Does it mean I need to get a shorter centre column?

Isn't there a "ground level set mode"

you need to remove the center column (obviously) :D.
