Just the camera lens, a little fill flash and about -1 of exposure to get thet right balance. I think insects like butterflies don't really need that kind of close-up because we want to see the whole picture because of their beauty.

I really want to create them B&W shots like yours they are just fantastic.....;)

Very nice shots. This is another example of how much a G-series can do when it is owned by a great photographer.

I think the guy was stil in his dream early in the morning:rolleyes:  . Seriously, insects are normally less active in early morning. That's why is better to shot insect macros in early morning. Unfortunately, I just like this guy cannot wake up early;) ;)

Great detail and colour. Shows how versatile the G6 is.

Thanks, anybody 'CAN DO' the same, i have come to learn a lot with the G6 and one of them is getting the flash and exposure an even balance, i'm more impressed with the built in flash i use all the time, i don't even get a drop-off shadow on the bottom right being so close to the subjects, i think canon have got thats spot on, other people may have a different view over the G6 but it works well for me and proff is in the images i've taken so far......:D
