I sent my slightly used 5Dc to Canon for "Mirror Recall" service via UPS ground on March 11 Thursday (UPS truck left Wisconsin heading NJ at 10pm). Then on March 16 Tues., Canon just received my 5dc around afternoon thru UPS tracking online.

Today (March 17 Wed.), I received an email from Canon telling me that they are checking my camera and gave me a repair#. After an hour, I got a voicemall from FEDEX standard overnight, that I will be receiving the camera tomorrow March 18 at 3pm.

Wow! That is only 5 business days which includes shipping from/to Wisconsin/New Jersey vice versa! Did they ever touch my camera at all?
Clean the sensor etc. for free? That was pretty fast! Anyone has experienced like this? What do you guys think they did to my camera? :D

I got the camera today. Looks good so far from exterior standpoint. (No scratches, scuff etc.) I don`t have a lens yet, still waiting for my Sigmalux coming next week. Canon said they fixed the mirror and adjusted the AF, cleaned the Cmos, checked everything ...

I`m a bit disappointed bec. I bought it used and the guy (seller) told me it`s less than 4k shutter count.
I requested Canon service to check for the shutter count if they could, but they didn`t.
I wonder if they did check everything? I`ll wait for my lens, and see if they really cleaned the sensor.
I heard people sending in their 5Dc for mirror recall service and Canon checked for actuation count also.

The mirror never fell at all. I sent the body to take advantage of free cleaning, adjustment etc. I was also hoping that i would find out the shutter actuation count.
Yes, you can send your 5dc for them to check, even if the mirror is intact or never fell off.

I sent in my 580ex II on a Friday and received it the following Thursday. I was pretty pleased with that. And when I needed to get my 70-200 f/4 fixed they overnighted it when it was done, I was NOT expecting that, it made my day!

Ok. I sent Canon service an email and their response was the tech checked the shutter count and did not write it down, but all information that was done are still on their service record computer system.
Email says, shutter count of 6,500 (So seller said less than 4k). I think, it`s still good! Knowing the original seller bought it on Nov. 18, 2007.

I'm thinking about doing this also. Glad it worked out smoothly for you.

The unfixed mirror is flush to the support it sits in. The fixed mirror has two slim braces on the left & right sides that sit on top of the mirror and are flush to the support.. I've seen some images here but not sure what thread they are in.

I sent my 5D in because the mirror locked up and was getting an Err99 message. I asked for them to also do the mirror upgrade too. They ended up returning the 5D to working order with the mirror fix at no charge to me. I don't know if the mirror was at fault for the Err99 problem or not. The return invoice didn't say.

Can anyone confirm this?

I don`t think Canon put 2 brackets each side for mirror support on 5Dc. The guy posted on that thread above that he sent his 5dc for mirror fix and came back without the 2 bracket support as shown on 5d MK2.
Mine doesn`t have the 2 bracket either, but i just got the 5dc from Canon for mirror recall fix. Did they really fix it or not?

Here is my 5Dc after mirror recall service.

Can anyone verify this pls. ? Well, this was taken from Canon:

BTW, it seems like the same bracket I have on the mirror before sending it in to Canon. Did they just use a different glue? Or maybe the original owner already sent it in? But, Canon should have a record of the serial# right?

The brackets are the two very thin black strips next to the side brackets. The little strips are on the actual mirror itself.

I am assuming the 5dm2 brackets are different as Canon could design those into the construction of the camera before it released. The 5Dc brackets were added after the camera was already sent out. That is why the 5dm2 brackets look different.

Canon issued a Service Recall for the 5D so they will fix the mirror on any 5D camera. It doesn't matter if you're the original owner or not, or whether the mirror fell off.
