lol, that looks like a great way to destroy a 580EXii as someone slightly brushes your stand and it goes toppling over... :p

Actually, it's probably more sturdy than most light stands. Those bases are super heavy...not to mention the fact that there are no legs for people's feet to catch on. You'd have to tip it pretty far for it to fall over.

I don't see any on the site being sold for $300. All I see is instructions on how to built it yourself for about $60. And I think the fellow raises a good point about it being less obtrusive and less of a trip hazard than a standard light stand.

I honestly don't understand the criticism. Sorry.

I agree. It's a DIY for under $60. Mic stand bases are pretty heavy for its footprint.
