I am just a simple hobbyist, and with my lens collection growing - just purchased a used 35L ... I would like to think that I need or I should downsize now. But a good copy of siggy 30 1.4 and 85 1.8? I hardly use my 85 1.8 and siggy might end up the same. I keep telling myself keep them for "back up" - such good copies, hard to let go. My 100 2.8, decided to keep it for sure for just in case I want macro shots...
I even have the sekonic L-358 never had the chance to use it, reading the manual was the farthest I've gone on this one.

So do you guys, keep some of your lenses even though you hardly use anymore? When do u decide to sell? Pls convince me to sell the items above ;)

Yep, I have a couple of good lenses that I've been considering selling for some time but just haven't got round to it.

Why did you decide to get the 35L over the siggy 30?

i have sold a number of lenses that i had not been using (and had no use for in the forseeable future) to fund the purchase of gear i would be using regularly at this time.

With a limited budget (non-profit worker overseas) its the quickest way for me to purchase other items. Also, for me traveling back and forth - certain items get heavy in the gear back if they aren't getting used and become a liabilty during travel (if they were being used, no justification would be needed)

But if budget is not your concern and it is your hobby - why get rid of lenses? The exception i would make to that is the Sig 30 and the 35L seem to be too much of an overlap to keep both IMO.

^^ Because I decided to try the classic 5D and of course the Lens Archives section! :)

^^ True... (seems like the excuse of sig 30 for crop body and 35L for FF will not work) :)

Sell either the 30 or the 35. There is no need for both.

I use all my lenses. I will be selling the CZ 28/2.8 because the mirror catches on it, at infinity.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

Sell, sell, sell so you can buy more!

Sell the 30 and the 85 and buy something you would/will use.

The 35L on my 5D is a combo made in heaven for me, so you're not going to get any help here as far as a push to sell it. Amazing lens.

You can always rebuy if you really miss something, but for now I would get cash for it instead of having them lying around
