Just like my Corellas in the back yardthread, here is a selection of some White Cockatoos that visit the yard.

Here is one enjoying some bottlebrush

This one looks to me to be a young one, prob from this season.

As friendly as they are, they always keep a good eye on where you are! This one could do with a good clean!

I got my DOF a bit too shallow on this one though.

Gorgeous.. All I get visiting is wrens and crows. ;)

Great shots. I'd be trying to hand feed them. :)

I can get about 2 or three feet from them before they move away, and they normally only hop to the next branch, but I have only been here for 4 weeks, and only set up a feeder a couple ago. They are definatley not nervous, but having a beak like that must help with confidence! Give it a few months, they will be hand feeding.

To give you an idea of scale, here is one chewing on your average sized cob of corn. It was quite windy which is why he's having a bad hair day! I say "he", but to be honest they are pretty much impossible to sex from looking. oh, and when tame, they are one of the best talkers.

They are great talkers. a friend of mine had one and it knew more swear words than I do. It just amazes me that you have wild birds flying around that sell for a thousand bucks up here. :)

Very nice collection. The last time I saw sulphur cresteds they were in the Sydney Botanical Gardens in NSW. I never got this close though.

I believe, and I could be wrong, that male and female Cockatoos can be determined by their eye colour.

In this shot you can just make out that the one on the left has a reddish eye, but the one on the right has a black eye. I have no idea though which is male or female.

**EDIT** OK I've just discovered that the reddish eye colour signifies female. Black eyes are males.

Currently just a P&S, but watch this space.

Thanks everyone, glad you like them. I found out very quick white birds are so hard to get the exposure right, esp on a bright day.

I should do a quick video of them going absolutely crazy just on dusk. I have had them whistle by about 5 foot in front, full flight, and full noise!! Multiply that by 10 or 15 of them and it makes for one heck of a racket!

Ah, cool Dale, thanks for the info. I knew Galahs were sexed by the red in their eyes, but wasn't aware of cockys. Nice shot btw!
