Part 3 of birds "in my backyard" threads. I'm loving my new place!

These guys/gals are as lively as they are colorfull. So hard to get them still for more than a second or so. I have had zero luck getting an inflight shot of them, so fast and nimble....but I'm working on it. :D

These are a bit soft, once again, I'm working on it! They were hand held at 400 mmm at 1/125th......maybe not so good for you super stable hand people, but pretty good for me!

Those birds are pretty cool and very colorful. The local zoo has an area full of Lorikeets and you can feed them. Always quite fun and a great chance at some funny photos. Hope to make it over there this summer with my nieces.

It would be wonderful to have these birds flying around loose over here, such beautiful colors.

Glad you enjoy them everyone. The colors are simply amazing. There is a similar one also called a scalie breast lorikeet (I think), which I see flocks of fly overhead, but never in our yard. They have a green face with some red underneath.

CORUPTImages: yes, wherever they congregate at zoos or parks with lots of people who feed them, they generally are super friendly. I have an old shot of my missus about 20 years ago at a camp site and she literally was swamped by them. She would have had about 10 or 15 on every part of her body they could land on.
It actually got a bit much as some were geting their claws stuck in here hair as they tried to fly off!
