I would rather see a 600/5.6L IS for this

- it'll weigh around 2.14kg. Assumption is based on the weight of the 400/2.8L IS (5.37kg) 800/5.6L IS (4.5kg). Both lenses share the same front element diameter but the longer lens weighs almost a 1kg lighter.

It will cost this much.

- MSRP would be near $7318.50 as the 400 is 8k and the 800 is 12k on Canon USA. The 500/4L IS MSRP is 7k.

As much as I would like this lens to become reality I do not see it happening.

Neither would the 500/5.6L IS happen.
