Nice arrivals threads. Geeeez! I'd like to see their yearly budget!
Thanks Frank. They also had an 18-wheeler and a Westwind BizJet backstopping them as well. Yeah, there's some serious cash involved here. I'm told these guys rarely (if ever) make it much farther east than Texas so I guess their travel costs are "reasonable."

Great pictures as usual!
I was out in vegas for aviation nation last year and saw the patriots for the first time and both my girlfriend and I walked away talking about them over any other team there. I wish they had the funds to come out to the east coast and show the extreme talent that team has.
My airshow season kicks off next weekend with the thunderbirds out here in Alabama. Cant wait to see some jets in the air again.
Matt
Thanks Matt... Good luck with your efforts at the show in AL!

That's funny...I've been involved in aviation for 20+ years and I've never heard anybody actually use that term seriously. Maybe it is actually used in the jet world, I dunno.

Anyway, I bet that's a cool show to watch. You'll have to get some pictures of their performance up!
I guess I could have just said "Sh*t Hot" but I wanted to sound cool.
They fly a very close-in routine so we didn't get too many chances at their formation flying "in anger." I did get some pretty good looks at individuals so stay tuned for Part III...

I havent't hear the term Herky Birds since my father in law flew them 20 years ago. Talk about a a quick walk down memory lane.
Great shots as usual. Any learning curve with the new lens?
Thanks very much. Right now, the biggest curve is to my spine... Most noticeable technique "quirk" I've found so far is a need to really get the left hand well out on the barrel of the lens. I can cheat some with my 300 f/2.8 and only grab it under the tripod foot but the 500 gets twitchy when I try to use it the same way.

Good stuff! I can't wait for the MacDill Air Fest here in Tampa when I go on Sunday!
What were your settings for the last C130 shot? I can't view the exif with the latest version of Firefox

Thanks. IIRC the 2nd C-130 shot was at 1/125 @ f/13 ISO 100
Gracias!
Thanks Peter.
I actually saw that start to develop so I just kind of kept after it until I got one I liked.
