Now that the Version II 70-200's are rolling in has anyone tried it at max zoom with a 1.4x TC? I'm very interested to see how it's 280mm f4 compares to a 300L f4.

If you havn't tried it yet.......DO IT!

Awesome thanks. My Version 1 handled it well so it's going to be interesting to see what this lens may do at 280mm.

I don't know how the images compare because I've only got the first lens you mention but I can tell you that the 70-200 with the 1.4x is very heavy. I've been struggling with it and keep looking for somewhere to rest my elbows!

You just need to start shooting with the 300mm f/2.8 IS. You start to appreciate how light the 70-200 2.8 series is :)

I've delt with handholding a Siggy 120-300 so the 70-200 and a 1.4 will be far less tiring.
