hand strap

hey guys, im getting sick of my canon neck strap scratching the body of my camera so im lookin to get a hand strap. it looks like all of them need a battery grip to properly be secured on? is there one that doesnt require that? is there any other suggestion for a strap that i can use to secure my camera in hand that wont leave any physical blemishes on the body?

there are hand straps that screw into the tripod socket.

really...can you show me which ones and where i could find them? are all the canon hand straps for gripped bodies only?

does this seem to be of the same quality? they always say u get what u pay for, but some name brands like manfrotto would be great on a tripod, but handstrap? im not sure...thoughts?

As indicated by Kristy a few posts above, a Camdapter tripod Arca Swiss style quick release plate with 2 tangs for a hand strap and a neckstrap can be added to the bottom of the camera. See the Camdapter web site for a pic. Thus the Canon E1 handstrap or Camdapter or other traditional handstrap can be used, even if you camera does not have a grip. Hand straps are great for making a heavy camera/lens combination comfortable and secure to hold. Another small company that make a very competitive product, a tad lighter plate than the Camdapter, is image tooling.

The more recent (last few years) L camera plates from Kirk and RRS for bodies without a grip, also have tangs for handstraps.

Another vote for Markins or Camdapter hand straps. I went through several cheaper strap systems, most of them are the same. Don't buy cheap, you'll just have to buy something better later.

I use a Camdapter, have used it for about 2 years now, and I have never had a neck strap on, I love it! Much more comfortable and useful in my opinion.

I agree. The Camdapter is secure and comfortable. No need for a neckstrap to punish your neck and shoulders.

So if I go with the Camdapter, for my non-gripped 5D Mark II, should I get the standard Arca adapter?

The Arca Plus says its recommended for the EOS 5D, but not Mark II, where the Arca standard just lists Nikon bodies.

I currently have the RRS L Plate and Quick Release Clamp, so one of these Arca plates should work seamlessly with the Quick Release plate from RSS I'm using right now on my tripod right?
So I could go from hand holding with hand strap straight to the tripod if needed?

Or since I have the L plate from RSS, do I even need an adapter, I think this L plate has tangs for the hand straps?
Actually though, the L plate would make it kind of bulky and a bit more weight, I guess I could get just the base plate here:

And so the ImageTooling one for my 5D Mark II and RSS QR Clamp would be the QR Plate, P1DS?

Just wondering which plate I should get, if I should just get the one from Camdapter or ImageTooling or RSS, after that its a done deal.

Is the only color the Camdapters come in black? I see it says to write them on other colors...?

I've had great experience with these. They look and feel almost identical to the canon version, but 15 bucks cheaper, and includes the tripod mount.

Thanks, but I'm going to stay away from beads and sequence, I'll stick with black.
