Don't know if this is the right place to post this but I'll ask anyway. Since the weather here in San Francisco has been so nice I might go out soon to take pictures on the street. I might pull people off the street and ask them if I can take pictures of them. Other then asking if its ok to take pictures of them do I have to do anything else? I'm not going to use the pictures commercially. I'm just going to put them on my facebook and flickr.

not sure...

i'm probably going about it the wrong way... but i just tend to snap a picture and walk away before someone says anything....

when in doubt, get their permission... the worst thing that can happen really is them saying no... lol

See this thread for tons of information.

From a legal standpoint, you don't have to ask permission at all (in the U.S.) when people are in public unless you're planning commercial use. (It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the basics.) So since you're planning on asking verbally, and you have the legal right anyway, you should be fine with Facebook and Flickr.

If you're in a situation where permission is legally required, you absolutely must get it in writing. Verbal permission can't be proven in court.

Note: IANAL. See the above thread for much, much more.

All I want is a 10-2000 f/0.5L with no distortion that weighs 100 grams, fits in my pocket, and costs $300. Is that too much to ask?
