To make this a true Speed challenge, I am leaving subject matter open. The only criteria for the shots this week is that they be shot between 12pm EDT Friday, March 19 and 12pm EDT Friday March 26. Get out your gear and get shooting. No searching the archives for this one! It is impossible to police the timing so the honor system will have to suffice.

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 12 pm EST
on Friday, March 26, 2010. Winner of this challenge will be
announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please see the Image posting rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.
* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 12 p.m. Eastern Time Friday, March 26, 2010.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Nobody is perfect

Ok... Here are the results:

1st - Mike53545 - Last Race of the Season
I really like the diagonals in this fine sports/action shot.

I preface these comments by saying that I am just one set of eyes and other may have completely different opinions about your work.
Here is what I see:

Jason C- Like the shot. I would have liked to see a greater DOF so that the nose of the dog was also in focus.

Flo - The blue toning is nice. If you cat is anything like mine, she turns her head away right a the last second to avoid looking my camera in the eye. The clipped ear at the top is distracting and I think perhaps a different angle would have produced a better shot. I think cat eyes are captivating and I was disappointed not to see them here.

Maureen - Cute cute shot! Great job on exposure to avoid blowing highlights. The window light is a perfect catch light for this shot. The 24 mm focal length adds to the cuteness in this shot.

Mike53545 - Great shot. Love the sharpness and frozen snow. The diagonal lines are great. The clipped edge on the left is slightly distracting.

John_B - I am always jealous of shots like this. I live in an area where I can't get a shot like this. Like the comp. and colors.

Dilorenzo - I love street photography. The colors are great. I think the colored matting is distracting my eyes from the photo.

Tomy - I know how difficult bird shots are. Putting your bird off center would create more interest. I would either crank the color way up or convert to B&W since the colors are subdued.

Corey.b - I really like this portrait and composition. The reflection on the glass is too bright compared to her face and I find my eyes moving towards it instead of her face.

Robuk - Controlled burns can create great photo opportunities. I like the colors. Perhaps a different cropping might get stronger photo.

WarlOrd - beautiful flower - The dead center placement and cropped petal edges lowers its interest for me. The vignetting is also a little too obvious.

Way to go Mike. I didn't enter because I didn't shoot one frame for myself all week last week. Only assignments though I doubt I could have competed. Great shot Mike and great choice Jody. BRAVO!!!
