Hello All,

Recently I've been asked to send my RAW images into a magazine. In the past I would add my metadata to lg. jpegs and send them over. This is the first time I was asked to send RAW files and I'm having a hard time adding metadata to them.

I tried to do it in CS3 and I was able to do it just as I would with jpegs but when I went to save the file it wouldn't let me save it as a RAW file. It gave me every option but RAW. I also tried using the Canon Utilities but when I opened it and tried to add the information to the metadata it wouldn't let me type anything.

I tried the search option on here and I couldn't find anything. I'm sure theres info out there but I'm not finding it. Can someone on here help me out?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can mass ad metadata through bridge, just google it. I dont understand how you need to get them from jpg to RAW? They just want the original RAWs right?
Edit them slightly in ACR and click done and you're done

@ EmmaRose......I'm not trying to save a jpg as a RAW file. The publication requested that I send them unedited RAW files with the metadata filled out. I'm having a problem saving that information to the RAW file. I can fill it all out but when I click "save" CS3 gives me the option to save the file as a TIFF, jpg or other type of file. I need to know how to save the RAW file with that information.

I don't use Bridge however I have it. I was under the impression that Bridge is used by people who have a large workload and need to do batch processing. However, I don't have a heavy workload therefore I dont use it. Maybe it would help me with the little things I do but for right now I have my hands full with learning CS3.

EmmaRose, you were right using Bridge does make things 10x easier. I did a quick search on Bing and I found a very informative write up and I was able to create a template and apply it in Bridge. Thanks for suggesting I use it. I was a bit reluctant to use it since I'm having a hard time learning CS3 but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I hope that publication is paying you a barrel-load for those RAWs. You are handing over all control of your images, you don't even know what they will look like. It is an extremely unorthodox demand and I wouldn't agree.

I hear what you're saying. I've never sent out my RAW files before but for some reason this editor is requesting them. I've asked other photographers who contribute and who are on there staff and they all said they send in there RAW files also.

I'm guessing its a common practice but every publication I've ever shot anything for always wanted the shots unedited so they can do the post processing and in all cases except this one large jpg's.
