I went out today, first time since I saw the grass last November. I need to crop and adjust a few of these, but here are some. The kids really wouldn't get dressed and so these are just generic, nothing special.

Hi, Lucy (you're the recipient of my first post!)

#2 is an an awesome shot. I've often wondered what/how to get 'good' informal shots. Did you take all your gear with you? ie, speedlight?

Canon EOS 50D, Canon 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, Canon 50 f/1.8, Sigma 24-70 f/2.8, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS, 430EX II

The only thing I took was the 40D, 85mm 1.8, and the speedlight. I didn't use the speedlight on that one. I did leave all my gear in the car beyond that just in case. The kids at this stage refuse to get dressed and wear about the crappiest stuff known to man. With the snow just melting, everything outside is dead and it is the worst time of the year to take pics, but they did.

My daughter gets her braces off in 2 weeks, and she wants to get all dressed up, do her hair etc. She will NOT allow me to take close up pics like with Glenn until that time, so she sort of fads in the background on most pics.

I have many friends who have their own professional studios and they do absolutely beautiful pictures. I have NO eye for composition at all and will be the VERY first to admit that. I am delighted with the 2 pics of Glenn on the rock, but I know that is far from what many on here can do.

lol true, but we still need to shoot don't we?! Good to know it can be done with relative ease.

The bribery of money normally is a good incentive.
