Zoo opened at 11:00 am. Low humidity, not a cloud in the sky ... made for some pretty harsh shadows and blown out whites! Anyway, here are a few shots ...

1) Only place I'll see one of these in NE Ohio!

2. Neat guy--Red Koala Bear I believe. My HS junior says it's very closely related to a racoon!

3. Very tiny Owl of sort ... had to take through mesh screen. Only about 2' between the lens and the owl.

4. What a beauty. Male/Female and two yearling cubs. Since these images were taken at Akron Zoo, one of the cubs is named LeBron. Laff! This is the male parent:

All images 70-200 f/2.8L IS and the newly fixed 7D. Colors look ok?

The colors look fine on my monitor.

BTW, the 2nd pic is of a Red Panda and the 3rd is a Burrowing Owl.

Also known as a "Lesser Panda" (not a koala).

#3 looks like a Burrowing Owl

Great shots!

Yes, you are correct. Thank you. Can recall the sign and it certainly didn't say red koala! Not sure why that popped into my mind while typing above the image.

Thanks for the id on the owl and the kind words on the shots. First time at a zoo with the camera! Since it's very early in the season, many of the outdoor exhibits weren't up and running. Maybe I'll go back later in the summer ... maybe in the evening next time for better light.

Thanks for the id's bob! Colors always look fine until conversion for loading to here. Glad they turned out ok.
