I've recently delved back into old film kit, so I can honestly say that my new lens only cost me twenty quid. :)

No, I think they are relieved when a box shows up with camera gear. :) My other hobby is competitive rifle shooting which BTW is not cheap either. Even though they don't give me any grief on my other hobby; I think they prefer me taking pictures. ;)

They just get excited to see what I come back from outtings with; and my g/f doesn't much care as long as it doesn't get pointed her way :)

That is hilarious considering my wife and I were arguing about me getting a bike just tonight. Those Harley Davidson incentives are pretty tempting right now...

Heh. A few years ago I was in a Starbuck's chatting with a few casual acquaintances, all riders. And young. I'm definitely not young.

One of them, always a smartass, said "You mean your wife lets you ride a motorcycle?"

Me: "I had the motorcycle first."

Me too...

Actually it was the motorcycle that brought my current wife and I together. She had one at the time and has a different one now.

My wife knows me enough by now. When she sees a box or a notification slip on the front door she just looks at me and says "Ok, what did you buy now?". But I bought her a Rebel XSi back in September, and all of a sudden if I buy something she will now ask "Is it something I can use too?"

All these electronics web sites and stores.....I call them Toys R Us for grown-ups....

I hope all of you are joking. Hiding things? Having equipment delivered to your parents house to hide it? Someone telling you that you are spending too much of your own money? The wife rolling her eyes?

You all aren't serious are you?

The wife and I don't do all of that. She has scrap booking and decorating the house that she loves to do. I have photography and gardening. We each help one another out if needed. Although I am only of help to her to move things and maybe build something if needed. We set aside money if she wants to redo a room. And I set aside money if I want a lens or something. We don't either of us just blow money we shouldn't. It would just never occur to either of us that the other might disapprove of our non work leisure activities.

Maybe we just have it good. What do I know?

Ain't nothin but a thing.

Nope, but let talk of a motorcycle arise and I'm in the doghouse for weeks.

That's not even funny!

I'm in the same boat... "Hey, I picked up a new flash for $xxx" k whatever

"Hey, I'm thinking I need new bars, should only be $xx" HAVEN'T YOU SPENT ENOUGH ON THE BIKE?!?!
