I need a travel sized sturdy tripod that i can take around europe.
Needs to support a 5d Markii with a 70-200 F4 and 580ex flash.
Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Thanks

Under 100 with quick release if possible. Or since i already have manfrotto legs would it be better to just buy travel sized legs and swap the ball head?

I carry an old Gitzo 1228 Mk II tripod but I end up using a Gorillapod Focus most of the time. The Gorillapod will support a 5D Mk II with that lens.

You won't find a decent tripod for that price that's light and collapsible. Even the Feisol which has had +/- reviews here is about $300. Perhaps a used one? What's the head you have?

over 3k actually.

OP - I have a Slik Sprint Pro for travel. The tripod police are cringing right now, but that's okay with me. It folds up under 19", comes with a QR head and is light. I took it out to Nevada last week and it performed pretty well.

It's obviously not as good or stable as my normal set up but I make some concessions for traveling.

I have the 190xprob with 486rc2 which I bought with travel specifically in mind.

Happily carried it around for 3 days in Venice in July, go hiking with it for 8 hours at a time in Snowdonia etc.

Does everything I want it to, never thought twice about taking it (excpet when walking, and that is more whether I will have the time to set up properly, rather than weight / size)

I just let my good friend borrow my 190XB and 488RC combo for shooting soccer. She was amazed how easy it was to set up and use. So, yes, it's an inexpensive, light combo that will last a long time.

The question you have to answer for yourself is what is your definition of travel tripod. If you just want light and smaller size, there are many options. If you want something that can fold up small enough to pack in a camera bag or luggage, you have more limitations.

Which are you looking for?

Fuzzmuffin -- I recently picked up a Focus after having a long history with the smaller versions with Powershots. Other than leg length, what have you found to be the biggest down side of the Gorillapod Focus?
