as a tripod they work well IMHO.
just be careful with them. i saw a picture on some site that showed the leg detatching at the first joint. i assume this happened from wrapping it around something too thin and/or too tightly. they were saying to inspect it for small cracks. it looks like joby was pretty good about replacing the parts fast, though.
