Honestly, for a stationary and well lit subject, you are going to be using a tripod and ISO 100. You aren't going to really notice an improvement going to anything from your 20D unless you want to print huge.

For shooting a bit of everything, including action, I'd have a hard time choosing between a new 7D and a used 1dmk3 if had up to $2000 to spend on a body. Although, I'd probably end up going with like a 50D and $1100 worth of glass instead.

Dont get me wrong i would go over to Nikon. (I'll show some brand loyalty when Canon starts sending me free lenses lol) but it wouldn't be for anything under a d700. I used a d300 when they came out and i still worked at a camera store, I thought it was an awesome camera.

If we are playing that game, I would pick Sony A850

You are planning to pay $2000 for a body, though, and the 'puter wasn't free. You can get a film MF setup for under $500. You just bought 'film' up front with digital! :)

On What? IQ? I am convinced for under $2k the best IQ goes to the 5D. (As I stated in my first post, any post beyond my first post is mainly nonsense)

1d mkIIIs have been very appealing to me lately, so has the 7d but ever since holding a 1d2 that was on consignment at a local camera shop i have "lusted" after a 1 series. The 7d would be nice as i don't have to go through the hassle of turning my 17-55 into a 24-70. Ive also looked around for 1ds mkIIs

For god sakes, people should know better then testing cameras at the store

Don't repeat my misstakes :D
