It is eye twisting at first because there is no space between the first and second photo and the streams are running in different directions but I think you have quite a talent and your photos are beautiful.

Both are very nice images, my only suggestion would be to maybe play around with some different crops which I feel would strengthen the first one in particular.

Liking the second more than the first, first could maybe have done with the sun being further around to light the foreground subject. Nice use of the filters.

yeah, wasnt really a planned shot other than i find the area interesting and super convenient. i was actually under a bridge to shoot that one, was way worse originally but shooting in raw let me bring it back in lightroom (original attached before/after PP)

i dont remember the exact combos for the shots but i spent most of the day using one or more of the following - nd4/nd8 and a circular polarizer. the nd filters let you slow down the shutter and get some movement, the circular polarizer cuts the glare off the water.

I'm curious. What filters did you use and toward what purpose? If these are experimental shots, then they serve a purpose. If they are to stand on their own, then there are some things that you could have done to make them more compelling to the eye.

The first one is very blue. Yet it's a recognizable scene that is not blue when one experiences it in reality. So that's a problem. It's also an image that is half in shade and half in sunlight, which is seldom a good combination. What is the object hanging on the chain? If the stream is the subject, then this object is obtrusive. If the object is the subject (sorry grammarians), then you cut off part of it.

I recommend cropping the bridge out of the second one, as it is a clear indication that the image is not level. The rest of it is ambiguous enough that it wouldn't be easy to tell. It should be one of the ten commandments of photography that one never tilt water. It just looks odd.

listed them above, had nd4/8 and a cp along. cant remember what i used in each shot though. first day with ND's and was mainly a learning/experimentation outing. i still appreciate the critiqes though as im always looking for suggestions to improve my shots.

ive had a tendency to do that lately, its been cold here and ive felt the blue hue helps to portray that its not summer... am i reachin? lol but i see your point...

the stream is the subject but i tried to include the fence, same fence in both of the shots in the first post, different shooting points.

no bridge, its the fence again, fence is old and rickety (sp? word?) and has been beaten by the stream...

i couldnt decide if the composition of the last one was good or bad, but it seemed to jump out at me when i was sorting...

:p

thanks for the criticism, ive learned a lot of tech stuff on this forum but im struggling with understanding composition...
