After recently seeing the improvement in the 70-200 II from the MKI I am really looking forward to a 24-70 II with IS. I'd imagine it would be one of Canon's best sellers. There is far too much variation (I've owned three) in the current lens and it's in need of a makeover.

I would love to see a 5Dm3 + 24-70 IS combo. That will surely get me to make the switch to FF.

This lens should be announced in two weeks.

I assume that when it's officially announced, the lens won't be available for purchase until 2-3 months after the announcement, like with the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II.

I would anticipate it would also at least 33% more than the existing 24-70, especially if they add IS.

By then, whenever, if ever, it happens, I'll upgrade.

---- Are you pinoy? How do you like your PWs with 580EXII?

LOL. I know you are. But, honestly, I got tired waiting for this lens and missing the photographs I could have taken with the current version. But I stll want this lens to have IS. So, I can't wait to upgrade mine even I haven't received it yet. LOL.

Is that the EVIL model with 3D video and still? Oh and a stereo Mic without AGC? With a better than the 7D3's AF and meter and VF? And a cappuccino machine built-in, since the camera wars will go from MP, to Video, to Cappuccino. It is only logical.

It's going to have new IS technology and new AF focus setup that won't show up until the 7Dmkii and maybe the 5Dmkiii, if they plan to not make it a handicapped slow focusing giant lol.

Also they are adding Macro. They also said the lens will include a extender so you can get a bit more zoom, at the cost of a stop. They do this because the new IS and AF have some weird mount that can't use the other extenders.

kidding.

So what do y'all predict for price? I'm predicting $2200 street price.

The 70-200 Mk2 is $600 more than the Mk 1. With the 24-70, they'll be adding IS as well so I'm predicting about $1000 price increase.

Yep, $2200 is my guess.

That's a bit too high. I'd say around $1900ish. :)
