I would suggest cleaning the glass prior to shooting.

I never had the patients (Nor funds) to start a salt water tank. Ive had a 75 gallon fresh water. I bought two mollies, that just kept reproducing and reproducing. For 4 years i never bought another fish. Just raised batches of frys.
But i have to agree, clean the glass next time.
I never knew how dirty my glass was till i took pics of my tank.

looks like a bubble tip..
and yea, saltwater takes lots of patience and funds which is why i gave up on that, and spend most of my time with cameras. lol
ironically, the only reason i got into photography was because of my fish.

EDIT: also looks like hes got a long tentacle nem...

I think this is a good first shoot.

I have read, but have yet to try to, shoot aquariums - even though one is less than 50 feet from me at this moment. My understanding is that the flash should be held directly over the tank as you shoot thru the clean glass with the lens hood against to glass to stop any extraneous ambient light from the sides.

One is indeed a bubble tip, the other larger one is a Sebae. I had a nice Sebae Clown that used it as a host, but he went fins up on me a few weeks ago :(.
I do have a long tenacle, too. The bubble tip just divided last month, and both are now doing well. I am planning on getting a few more clowns to go with all the hosts, but I haven't decided what kind yet.

P.S.
Yes, they DO take a fair amount of time and dedication.
I'm planning on doing a 40 gallon water change and total cleaning (tank and sump filter) tomorrow. It should only take about 5-6 hours if anyone wants to help...
