Hierodula Salomonis (Jade Mantis) Nymphs

This is my first ever attempt at 1:1/1.4:1 insect macro, so these may not be the best photos in the world, lol. I couldn't believe how insanely difficult it was to get the focus right, especially hand held! The mantids are around 2cm in length, and the DoF was around a quarter of a millimeter, so getting their eyes in focus proved to be quite a challenge!

I'd love to get some thoughts on the lighting and the composition as well as anything else you feel needs attention payed to it.

In my opinion you nailed the composition and lighting. The pose in the second is awesome! I know what you mean about the focus, i've been trying to do the same kinds of shots on young stick insects. One last note on the mantids.... I WANT ONE
