Wow.. It has that "sense of history" feel. Just think about it. 1000 years ago the first European explorers made it to the American Continent, and the next morning, this is what they saw. (without the houses and boats, of course 
1) Normally I would say "less sky", but I think you capture interesting contrasts in the clouds. For those of you who follow my other critiques, I am not a big fan of "big blue sky" type pictures. I find them somewhat boring. But angry, menacing, or interesting skys are a different story.
2) I'm a little bothered by the two specs of light. I wonder if it would look any better if we got rid of them using photoshop. I find them distracting from the subtle mood the image projects.
3) Composition and frameing seem about perfect. Darkening skies offset darkened foreground. Rocks on left offset beach and houses on right. Hint of daybreak gives us anticipation about what is to come.
