Instead of shooting text and stuff, today I took out the 70-2 that I received last night. Since it was so nice out, we packed up the family and went to the New York Aquarium in Coney Island. So I have some animals, and one portrait of my youngest son with crop to show sharpness.
Overall impressions, it's a good lens. Very good. I love how it captures color, and the micro-contrast is very impressive for a zoom.
Anyways, here you go and you can judge for yourself.
All shots with Canon 1D Mark III and 70-200 2.8 IS II handheld
ISO 1600, f/2.8, 150mm, 1/250th (minimal NR applied in Lightroom. Minimal sharpening applied, nothing done with color)
ISO 800, f/2.8, 75mm, 1/250 (SOOC. Converted from RAW to JPEG)
ISO 800, f/3.5, 200mm, 1/100th (Minimal boost to clarity. Minimal sharpening applied)
ISO 100, f/3.5, 120mm, 1/400th (white balance, edited pic in photoshop to spare you folks from seeing boogers - other than that, nothing else except RAW to JPEG - no sharpening)
And the crop of focus point for the pixel peepers
