Hello I mainly shoot Motorsports and have seen the Sigma advertised for almost half the price of the Canon .
Have any of you had any experience of the Sigma lens and how would you rate it against the Canon equivelant .

Thanks

Sample Archives

Canon: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=168429
Sigma: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=424175

I don't own the Canon so I cannot comment, but the Sigma is a fine lens.

Great lens, a hair slower with focus than the Canon. But it is an excellent lens that performs well. Search the forum for samples and check the lens archive.

Many threads about this lens in the forum.

It may be a hair slower, but the Sigma is still extremely fast. I totally agree with themadman.

Yeah Ive looked at some of the sample images and it looks pretty good . And the fact of the price being alot cheaper than the Canon also entices me , being a student and all .

the sigma is just as good as the canon non IS.

It is an equal battle in:
-Sharpness
-Focus speed
-Focus Accuracy
-Weight

The only thing I like more about the canon is the build quality. Not saying that the sigma is not bad, but I love having that metal feeling in my hands.

Hey, my non-DG version is a solid chunk of metal! It's heavy.
