I like both in different ways. With the camera, my efforts are lighting, camera settings, and a strong composition. In post processing, I bring the image forward to the presentation that was in my mind's eye at the very beginning. On a critical shoot, the camera seldom produces exactly what I want.

It's like a roller coaster ride for me, depending on how I nail the exposure.

I'm having fun/excited when shooting. Then when I open the image and if the exposure is off, I'm sad. Then after editing the image, if I can fix it, I'm happy again.

Working in the darkroom. Nothing beats the feeling of having a nice print.

Agree, the most fun I had was in my class where we printed our own images, except for that one time I got lightly splashed in the face with developer by another student when he dropped is paper in the tray.

Shooting. Post is neat since you see the image come out as you envision it, but opening them up, seeing that you nailed the exposure, focus, composition the first time and you can just improve it from there is a great feeling. Even before that the thought that goes into your images (if you're setting them up carefully); playing with lighting, playing with angles, playing with distance, finally finding that right combo. Or if it's more fast paced, trying to keep up with the action and get good focus, adjusting exposure on the fly, being forced to compose and snap at just the right moment. It's all great stuff.

Shooting - so much so that if an image needs more than a levels/contrast/crop, then I usually delete it.
