Does anyone who lives near Tucson, AZ know of a place with good, dark skies?

I drove north of Oracle Junction and there was still too much light pollution, and so I will have to try another time even further away. I am curious how far away from the city I would have to drive to get ideal darkness.

I'm curious if anyone knows of some good public land away from civilization and smuggling routes where I could camp out...?

Anyone? Thanks...

Go just beyond the range to the west. I have driven just to the other side on Silver Bell, it's called rattlesnake pass I think, and the skies are much darker. I don't know how much better photography would be though.

Great, thanks! Do you know of any groups of photographers who get together in Tucson?

About every other month people go a little past picacho peak. Out there it is great, go to a astronomy shop, and they have a list of dates of when they go out there. I usually attend 2 per year. Its quite amazing.

I use to go to Saguaro National Park. I've taken many good images from there.
