I've just followed the link in Canon Rumours about what sounds like a very interesting sensor "revolution". Gone are micro lenses and photosites, instead the sensor is more like film emulsion sprayed onto a fairly cheap silicon matrix.

It seems such an obvious development so I hope there are no nasty surprises lurking that might prevent its further development.
