Mar 23, 2010 10:43 | #5 They wanted the skates on the left because they are a Roller Derby Team, and they payed for the photo, but I agree with your take on the composition.  I 100% agree with you on the light balance between left and right. Next time I will bracket with the flashes. This was actually shot at an outdoor bar at the Jackelope in Austin. The LCD on my 7D did not give enough detail outdoors to see the imbalance. Live and learn until next time. MarklandPhotography Member 48 posts Joined Feb 2010 More info | Mar 23, 2010 11:17 | #7 the first thing i assumed was that is was a roller derby team, without seeing the skates. so in that manner you definitely portrayed them well. the lighting looks nice, but the background is so busy its a little bit distracting. maybe you could have opened up a stop to get a little bit more depth, but overall for first time shooting off camera flash, i would say definitely a good job! keep it up!!!
