Every year I head to Taiwan a few times for work. There are some amazing photo opportunities all over the island. If you have never been there I highly recommend going. Here are some shots from my recent trip:

I used to dread going but I now look forward to going. I have to go sometimes twice a year for work and I always take a few personal days to explore. Have fun at the end of the year!

Here are a few more. Still processing all the images I captured:

I am not that adventurous of an eater and was pleased with the addition of a Gordon Biersch.

Great pictures. I'm probably going to be there next week for two and a half days. What would you recommend seeing in and around Taipei?

If you have never been there before and have yet to do any of the tourist stuff then I would recommend checking out the CKS Memorial, Longshan Temple, Shilin Night Market, the Ximen area of Taipei, and don't miss a trip to the top of the 101 Building. All can be reached relatively easily from the MRT system. Cab rides to any of the above places typically run about $120NT to $180NT. But a MRT pass runs $500NT and will last your whole trip. The MRT is the Mass Transit rail system.
These are all great things to check out on the first trip. But if you had more time to travel a little outside of Taipei I would recommend heading north to Danshui or out to the Mountain Village of Jiufen. Also there is now a HSR (High Speed Rail) and you can get all the way to the southern end of the island in about 2 hours. Tainan is a wonderful place to check out if you have the time.
Let me know if you would like any more specific info, have fun while you are there!

That was all good advice, thank you!

We also went to the Maokong tea farming area which was great. Walked around for an afternoon there. It's the last stop on the brown line, with the zoo. Then bus 10 or 15 up the hill.
