This clip was most likely posted by a videographer. When doing video myself, rarely would I run into a wedding where it was as bad as this. What's funny is these guys would actually look back and see they were in the way but blocked the camera anyway. :D

I've also found that a lot of Asian weddings have a different culture regarding photographers like this. Nobody seems to mind.

in asian weddings, it's much more lenient and not many people care. it's not as organized because of the busier/fun environment.

that's got to be the funniest thing I've seen today. This will definitely find it's way around the net.

That's so bad... the B&G must've felt like their wedding was supposed to be posted on the front page of a Tabloid paper the next day

You can tell they aren't taking the job seriously, they aren't even looking through their view-finders half the time.

I had a few reactions to this.

One is, geez, don't those guys have anything other than a 16-35 lens? Maybe they were obnoxious to the video guy, but I'd think they were much more obnoxious to the subjects. Right in their face relentlessly with their flash and that stupid-does-no-good whale tail.

A few times, it almost seemed deliberate.

And as much as these guys were a disaster for the video guy, I've seen video guys behave just as intrusively.

Finally, this was a sensationally covered event. Two photographers, one video guy, and I'd see other video cameras from time to time that looked like they might be larger than consumer grade. When you ask four guys to get the shot, well, I suppose someone may get in the way.

The photographer seemed to ignore the video cameras... sometimes those are instructions the B&G give me. I try to avoid them though. They look like beginner photographers to me.

As soon as I hear that the couple is working with a video guy, I always tell them that they need to make some decisions and communicate them to both of us. There are moments like the processional when both of us want the same small bit of real estate. The couple has to decide who it is that's going to get it. I don't even care which of us do, but everyone has to be on the same page. I've never had anyone say that photos are second to video and I'm always able to work respectfully with those guys. I just wish they could turn those damn lights down.

I figured you guys would like the clip. :) I just hope the shooters aren't here on POTN...

Anyway, I've seen a few intrusive video guys in my short career. One of them is in probably 25% of my shots in this one wedding. As for numbers, the last wedding of the season we did was also being shot for Rich Bride, Poor Bride so we had 3 of us as photographers, two regular video guys, four TV cameras a director, producer and a wedding planner. It was an interesting day, that's for sure. :)

How's this for an intrusive video guy?

With those lights going up there, yeah, the over the shoulder shots during the vows came out real charming. He turned on five high powered lights all around the dance floor for the first dance. It looked like it was 2:00 in the afternoon out there. Some great atmosphere. Sheeesh.

So the couple paid money for a videographer and didn't care if you both worked together to deliver your services?

Or are you talking about Uncle Joe and his camcorder?

It looked like it was 2:00 in the afternoon out there. Some great atmosphere. Sheeesh.

Yes, the video lights really kill the mood. But so do the machine gunning photographers with their lightening bolts.

After shooting over 200 wedding videos I never had a problem with a photographer and they never had a problem with me (at least none they cared to share). But seeing both sides of this now, many don't really get along - especially when egos clash.

Could not stop laughing. It looked so deliberate at times. Wow!
