Like Stan, I have seen many more white morph Reddish Egrets down here in Texas this year. The two varieties decided to feed together, with a Roseate Spoonbill joining the party.

This is a great set. I love the group shots in particular - it's not every day that we get to see these great looking birds together, within a single frame.

Way to go, Miles. I understand the largest rookery of reddish egrets is there in Texas. I'll put that on my list for the future. These are great. Mine were not together. Maybe I'll try herding them next time.

That's a great collection Miles. And so many in a single shot too.

Neat to see different birds together.
I am partial to the last 3 shots--the red egret in flight is super--great pose, excellent lighting and focus! A framer!

I appreciate all the kind words! For all but the last in this set the light was very harsh and flat, but the birds were active. I was out with a birder from Denmark who had the Reddish Egret on his "to see" list. He was not disappointed. There were actually 14 Reddish Egret's in this one place with 6 being the white morphs.

I haven't posted in a while as my father recently passed away after a long battle with both Alzheimer's and cancer. Dad used to love looking at all my bird photos. He will be missed!

Beautiful compositions Miles... the combinations of colors in the first three are so interesting and well done.... the white morph and Reddish together is outstanding.

Condolences to you and your family on your father's passing.

Miles,

Terrific set here. May I ask where these were taken? Padre? Mustang? Matagorda? Bolivar?

Thanks,

JH

Thanks Art, db and JH. All but the last were taken in Port Aransas, TX at the new wildlife reserve there which is called Charlie's pasture by the locals. It is 1,300 acres of tidal marshland and contains about two miles of trails (boardwalk, gravel and cement) with covered lookouts and a birding tower. The last shot was taken at Indian Point in Corpus Christi.

Great. Thanks for the info Miles. I will have to plan a visit.
