I am new to photography and I am picking up an used Canon 50D body(20k+ clicks) this weekend.
What should I be looking for other than the cosmetic appearance?

Shoot some pictures with it. Put it in the various modes and see that they work. Av mode and see if the aperture changes in the viewfinder when you turn the wheel. Same for Tv mode. Look at the lcd screen and make sure it works properly. Take a shot with the flash and make sure it pops up and works.
