I just got the Sigma 50mm 1.4 today from BEACHCAMERA.COM and tried the FOCUS chart test using 5Dc body. @f1.4

Picture style set to neutral (no sharpening on the camera body)

My son, focus on the left eye (from your vantage point, closer to the camera lens) @ f1.4 handheld...

Had my fingers crossed when I ordered the Sig 50 from BH, didn't work out like yours did. Maybe you should go ahead and get that lottery ticket.

I was looking at the charts you posted....

does the full frame sensor have a thinner depth of focus?

Not sure, but it looks like it, compare to the 30mm Sigma with Xsi crop body.

Full frames have thinner DOF, yes.

No, this is normal. Despite what the internet says, not all sigma lenses have issues.

I bought a sigma 18 50 2.8 Macro recently and I like it very much. Maybe we are lucky or maybe we only here about the problems people have. Just my two cents.

It was just a quick sample shot. I`m 100% sure it was my hand moving a bit. out of 4 shots, this one doesn`t show much of the hand movement. I haven`t shot for 38 days, I just got this lens today and this is the first day I actually played with my 5Dc. Darn, I really have to get used to not having a live view!

Yep, bought a Siggy 50 1.4 from Amazon, used it for a day, and returned it the next day. No doubt there are great copies floating around, but I just didn't want to deal with one that was VERY out of whack. Made my 50L look good...and that's saying something.

Note 1/13 and ISO 50. Shooting at ISO 200-400 would probably get a sharper result.
