It's finally up and, for the most part, complete!! It's setup almost like a blog, but everything was done in dreamweaver. This might not have been the best route to take as far as creating a site, but it was simple enough for me to create a productive workflow.

I'm still adding a few things, but I would love to hear what you guys think...

Thanks.

As a start to your site, I think it's fantastic. Very fun and lively. I'm sure more will have better advice in terms of the business side of it, but as a designer/photographer, I'm diggin it

WOW, that is way too much for one page. I gave up looking about 1/4 -1/3 of the way into it. For me it needs to be broken up into pages.

Thanks! I wanted to incorporate a bit of my personality into the site by adding some of my sketches/doodles.

Ha, I hear ya, but I'm such a scroll whore. I'll eventually break them into pages.

Thanks.

+1. Particularly given the popularity of mobile devices these days I'd hate to try and have my iPhone download all those images on my poor old 3G connection...

Otherwise looks good!

Well that's a load of crap. There is no longer the term "below the fold" and hate to break it to ya, but blogs do scroll and his posts look more like blog entries then it does an actual website.

So as a blog it works.

I am confused if its intended to be a blog or a homepage. I think that needs to be a bit more decisive.

I hate to break it to you, but it is not a blog. And the term is still in use. Just not in web design much any more, so you are wrong there as well. I didnt say anything about the scrolling. By far more pages scroll than dont. That is pretty much a given. But this ammount is way to much for me. You have to give the viewer a break and the page load does that.

Didnt think anybody would get all pissy about it.

Mark 1 has a point, that was a bit long. Even blogs only show so much information and it did seem to be a lot.

I originally wanted to create it as a blog using wordpress, but I couldn't figure out how to get permissions in plesk/application vault to install wordpress. Instead of waiting forever to hear back from my friend, who set me up with a domain name from his godaddy account, I just created the site from scratch.

I did, however, take your guys' advice by splitting it up into pages. It loads a bit faster on the 3G network :)

I think you made the breaks at the perfect spot. There are a lot of images on each page still. But, the small break that the page load privides your eyes lets you look a lot longer, and to be able to take more in.

Well I'm guessing since the first post and now there has been a bit of a breakage since Mark1 seems happier. I think the site looks great. And I love your photos. You've done a great job. I do agree that it definitely looks more like a blog than a portfolio page, but I like it that way! There is definitely nothing wrong with a blog!

Anyway, good job. I appreciate how fun it is. :)

Thanks for the comments.

I definitely wanted to bring out a bit of personality into the layout, so hopefully it's not too distracting to the photos.

BTW, a lot of the photos you see were taken after joining POTN. And before this site, the most coding I ever did was in craigslist postings :) So it's amazing how much I've learned in three month thanks to the members of POTN!!!!! You guys rock!
