What do you guys use when you want to go over raw images in windows explorer.
In some cases i want to look over my raw files without necessarily importing them into my lightroom catalog.

What operating system?

I was able to install the Canon RAW codec (available from their website) in my vista laptop and I can view all my 40D RAW files in Windows Explorer just fine. Unfortunately, it didn't work in my XP desktop so I still can't view my 40D files in Windows Explorer on that machine. The RAW files from my 20D, D60 and G5 are viewable in XP with the Windows RAW image viewer available from Microsoft.

How fast is your computer?

Viewing RAW files on my Vista computer is a complete drag. it takes a full 10 seconds for the 20D RAW files to completely load so I can delete them, if need be. (I imagine the situation gets worse for higher MP cameras.) I've taken to importing them into LR2 and then deleting the bad ones.

i use it also. there is no faster viewer than the fast picture viewer and the codec which is apart was a real revelation to me.

Have you considered Irfanview? I use the thumbnail component when I need to sort through RAWs before I process them in DPP (you'll need to download the latest plug-in for it)...
