I am getting ready to purchase a new memory card and am wondering if there is a significant difference between Class 2, 4, and 6 memory cards. Can anyone who has tested different speeds let me know. My camera is the XSi.

Thank you in advance for answers.

go with at least class 6, or spend a bit more and get the class 10.

I used a Lexar Class 6 and a Panasonic class 6 (Both 8GB) with my XSi. With the current prices of cards, there's really no reason to go with anything less then a class 6.

Each class refers to the minimum sustained write speed for the card (ie class 2 is min 2MB/s, 4 is min 4MB/s, etc...)

Mind you though, class 6 is meaning less at times as some cards will read/write faster then others in a higher class. The Sandisk Ultra (the new one) is a prime example of a class 4 that does better then most class 6/10s.
