Newbie first post...a few wedding shots.

So I'm posting up a few pics from a wedding I went to Saturday. I was not the hired photographer of course, just a guest who wanted to practice with his canon 50d. I didn't want to cause any problems with the photographer so I shot in manual with no flash. The "professional photographer" was using a nikon, with the kit lens, in manual, with guess what?...the pop up flash. Now this house has recessed lighting and made for a very yellow tone in the room so automatic so I hate to think of how those pics turned out. I would have liked to use my speedlite 430, but wanted to stay in the background so I left it in the car. So here are a few of my best pics, let me know what you think!

Where is the picture showing the bride's face.

the guy was shooting for fun, maybe he was too busy having a good time doing what guests are supposed to do at a wedding..i.e..have fun!

On a technical note, a few of these are underexposed. As a guest, I just lean toward not taking a camera. Makes it more enjoyable.

yup..there's something about guests who have photography as a wedding that makes them into instant pros the second they get an invite to a firend or family memeber's wedding!

I think the last one is a great shot. I love the expression on the girl's face. The blurred pocket book reveals that she's upset about something. The bride's stance is sympathetic. If you clear up some technical problems, it's a keeper. It's underexposed and the background is not helpful. If it were me, I would try to put a hefty gaussian blur on the background. Clone out the picture frames, flowers, and stepstool, the litter on the floor, and the coat on the rack outside the door.

As a response to one of the other posters, I don't think a snide remark about non-pros taking pictures as non-pros at wedding was appropriate in this context.

Thanks! I really like the shot as the little girl is too cute...the background isn't great at all and some blur would really help out. The bride is actually standing right where they had the ceremony, middle of the living room at a family members house. It was a nice low key wedding...I need to get that pic in photoshop and work on it some, it would give me some good photoshop practice.

As to why I took pics, maybe I wasn't clear I was just a normal guest at the wedding. The wedding was my wife's friend, I took pics from my seat as a normal guest would, which is why there is no pic of the bride's face, I was on the grooms side and wasn't about to run around trying to take pics, I just enjoyed the ceremony from my seat...not sure why it's assumed I think i'm a pro, like I said in my first post, just practicing.

And I would also be grabbing for my camera if I got invited to a wedding. Its always a good time to get some great family pics.

Tried to fix the exposure on one of my pics (glad i shot in raw)...and cloned out the flower pedals on the ground. Still need to play with the blurring the background, but I think this is much improved.

Its a big improvement.
May even be worth cloning out the ladder.
